It was a busy weekend for 1138, as we had 4 of our cadets take to the skies in a glider, not only once but twice. All 4 cadets seem to really have enjoyed themselves, with one even gaining their Blue Wings Badge.

Tonight we welcomed along 1195 Irvine Sqn. It was great to parade together, and see such great numbers for both Sqns.

On Thursday evening. Our cadets had a leadership briefing before participating in some leadership activities.

Last night at the Sqn. We celebrated the forthcoming coronation of His Majesty King Charles III.

A huge congratulations to our recently promoted NCO’s. CDT Denny was promoted to the rank CPL CPL Copeland and CPL Skilling were promoted to the rank of SGT.

Congratulations to those who participated in the wing swimming championships last month. 1138 had 8 cadets participate in the event, and 3 of which won medals. This meant that 1138 placed 3rd in the wing. Well done everyone

Last month also saw a visit from a reservist from 5 Military Intelligence Battalion Army Reserve within the Army in Scotland to explain the role of the intelligence corps and Army Reserves. An enjoyable evening for 1138 and 1195 who joined us that evening.

Congratulations to some of our cadets who have recently been presented with certificates for their successful completion of a Basic Radio Operations Course

Essential First Aid is a vital course, and the first part into the First Aid Training within the cadets. Recently, our sqn were able to run 2 courses for 24 staff and cadets. Some were taught this course for the very first time, and for others it was a refresher course.

On Sunday 24th March 2024, cadets and staff from 1138 Ardrossan Sqn attended the HSM Dasher Memorial Service, to remember the lives of 379 servicemen who tragically lost their lives in the wartime disaster between Ardrossan and Brodick (isle of Arran) on the 27th March 1943.

Huge congratulations to Sgt Skilling who has been appointed as the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for Ayrshire and Arran. Lord Lieutenant is His Majesty The Kings representative within their own area. Lord Lieutenant cadet will accompany and assist Lord Lieutenant with different duties

Congratulations to SGT Skilling who has been appointed as the Lord Lieutenant cadet for Ayrshire and Arran. SGT Skilling will accompany the Lord Lieutenant for Ayrshire and Arran on official engagements throughout the next year. Congratulations SGT

1138 Ardrossan are recruiting adult volunteers✈️

Today, we remembered the fallen and attended the Saltcoats Remembrance Day Parade, where we laid a wreath at the Saltcoats War Memorial. This was followed by attending the Ardrossan Remembrance Day Parade, where we laid a wreath at the Ardrossan Garden of Remembrance.

A huge congratulations to CWO Thomas who has been successfully selected for International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE). CWO Thomas has been selected to take part in the exchange for Sweden this July.

We were able to run a joint YFA course with 1195 Irvine Sqn at the weekend. This is a vital first aid training course for the cadets as it teaches them basic first aid, how to bandage, and how to treat cuts and burns. 9 CDTs received this training, and received their YFA badges
