Also the Bronx co-location proposal will be cancelled. Let’s hope this signals a real turning point vs giving charter schools carte Blanche to undermine the quality of education of NYC public school students.

Now Legislature also needs to change law requiring NYC pay for private space for charter schools- only school district in state & nation with this onerous, unfair & expensive obligation. Cc UFT Sen. School communities at three campuses in Queens and the Bronx united to say NO to proposals to force co-locations of Success Academy charter schools with their vibrant campuses — AND THEY WON! ✊

Thank you NYC Public Schools & NAACP Co-op City Branch for hosting a great education town hall with Chancellor Melissa Aviles-Ramos. We had a productive dialogue with colleagues in government, families & young people in attendance on the future of our schools and the needs of students in the community.

Despite what Eva Moskowitz Success Academy would try to have you believe, Bronx & Queens NYC Public Schools students, families, educators, & communities stood together with ONE voice in opposition to another charter takeover of district community school buildings. #NoZombieCharters

Excited to be in Albany today with Children's Aid and Network4YouthSuccess for #NYSCommunitySchools Advocacy Day! The amazing students from FLHFHS kicked us off in style sharing what #CommunitySchools mean to them

Yesterday students from my high school, Long Island City, protested the racist principals policies by staging a walk out. They reached out to Eric Adam’s & he condescendingly told em’ that walking out would do nothing & “children should stay in school” instead of supporting em’.

You have an amazing Queens BP @MzGibson that would be happy to engage the students and find out what they would like to happen in their school! And Manhattan is also happy to support!
