The Immunology Unit at Advanced Pediatrics Centre, PGI Chandigarh, has been accredited as a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Education, Research & Training in Pediatric Immunology. This is the first time that a Pediatric Immunology unit has been accredited so anywhere in the world.

1️⃣ Background Autoimmune rheumatic diseases often affect women of reproductive age. Managing pregnancy safely is challenging and requires multidisciplinary care.

2️⃣ Survey Overview ✅ Conducted among 122 Indian rheumatologists ✅ Assessed knowledge, attitudes, practices on reproductive health ✅ Published in Mediterranean Journal of Rheumatology (2025)

3️⃣ Key Findings: Knowledge & Confidence 🔹 ~66% familiar with ACR 2020 & BSR 2023 pregnancy guidelines 🔹 Only 43% familiar with US FDA PLLR rules 🔹 Most confident in managing pregnancy & contraception 🔹 BUT ~63% not confident discussing oocyte preservation 🔹 ~66% not

4️⃣ Clinical Challenges 🟢 92% reported patients fearing pregnancy due to disease 🟢 ~51% see patients stop all medications after conception 🟢 77% encountered patients told they could never conceive on DMARDs 🟢 Conflicts with other specialties about drug safety were common

5️⃣ System Gaps 🔸 Only 60% had full-time obstetrics services at their workplace 🔸 93% agreed that a joint fertility clinic is needed 🔸 92% believe India-specific guidelines are essential

6️⃣ Recommendations 💡 Improve collaboration between rheumatologists & obstetricians 💡 Educate patients about safe pregnancy planning 💡 Develop local guidelines tailored to India’s context 💡 Use simple tools (info cards, counseling, CME) to close knowledge gaps
