Darragh O'Brien thinks lead time and "nuclear waste" are significant enough issues to not pursue nuclear energy in Ireland, they aren't. If we don't have all carbon free options available to us, Ireland will lose out. We won't meet our emissions targets and we won't attract FDI

Denis Duff, 18for0 cofounder discussed Darragh O'Brien recent comment that "Nuclear is not on the table", on Newstalk Breakfast 👇 He outlined why we must look at nuclear as an option and by not looking at nuclear now, we are repeating mistakes of the past. goloudplayer.com/episodes/envir…

Nuclear energy saves you money 💶💶💶 Below are two maps, one with EU household consumer electricity prices and the other listing EU countries with nuclear energy production in 2023. Almost every country without nuclear energy has higher electricity costs. Darragh O'Brien

Great article by Matt Cooper Business Post He pressed enterprise minister Peter Burke on the need for nuclear in Ireland but like Darragh O'Brien he cited the electricity regulation act and the supposed public's concerns about nuclear waste as reasons to not even look at it.

We completely agree with the EU Commissioner for energy on nuclear energy's role in building a resilient low carbon energy system Darragh O'Brien, Ireland needs to achieve the same. Perhaps the government could commission a feasibility study on nuclear energy use in Ireland?

Is it past time to look at nuclear energy? Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) tells Oireachtas committee that Ireland electricity prices are higher than any other EU member state because "Ireland has not diversified away from using gas to generate electricity to the same extent as other EU countries"

Congratulations to all involved in Ireland becoming an associate member of CERN. James Lawless This will allow Ireland's researchers to participate in CERN's scientific programmes and Irish businesses to compete in CERN procurement programmes. Now for full membership 🤞

If you want cheaper electricity we need Irish nuclear energy. "Irish electricity is more expensive due to a combination of factors, including heavy reliance on natural gas; grid bottle necks, geographic isolation and the absence of nuclear power" Kevin O'Sullivan

Irish legislation prohibits the use of nuclear fission for electricity generation, but not industrial heating. Companies are in the latter stages of development of high temperature SMRs, see Copenhagen Atomics Will this be discussed at IAEA - International Atomic Energy Agency ⚛️ mission to Ireland in 2026? EPA Ireland

Fianna Fail James O'Connor TD has stated he is in favour of putting nuclear energy "on the table", in a well written article published on the fianna fail website. What more will it take before the government seriously considers nuclear energy? fiannafail.ie/news/time-to-t…
