One of the best things about war diaries is you never know what you’ll get. Several years ago I found this map marking all the known German defensive positions around Monte Cassino. Just imagine visiting the area and using this map to find find German positions from 81 years ago!

I’ve been copying files for over twenty years for people all over the world. None give me more mixed emotions than copying War Crime files-mainly sadness but I take comfort in the fact that someone somewhere is going to tell their story and they are not forgotten. #LestWeForget🌺

1/3 Major Philip Newman was a 28 year old surgeon attached to 12 Casualty Clearing Station at the Château Coquelle outside Dunkirk. When the shells started falling they moved the surgical cases to the basement, 3 operating tables sharing just one light.
