A family I've been working with for many years in our NHS clinic kindly gave me a bottle of Zaytoun olive oil - a farewell after their moving on from our children's service. Thought it most apt to use it for a Palestinian dish of chicken musakhan. (recipe in Falastin cookbook) 🫒

Homemade crispy fried chicken - with a brine infused with black tea, cloves and pineapple juice, and a potato-flour crust, this is such a genius recipe (from Julie Lin's fabulous new cookbook, Sama Sama). Went down a storm round ours!🔥

Always a treat popping into the lovely Lahpet and enjoying its beautifully prepared Burmese food - Shan ngar htamin né (Shan rice with sea bass), pea parata, gin thohk (pickled ginger salad). 🌿

My 14yr old just back from his D of E expedition, so I asked him what he fancied after trekking 17 miles in full gear. Steak, he said. So picked up a juicy sirloin from the farmers market, and we cooked it together, and ate it together, and we had a fine time. 🌞

Another day, another university open day! Hats off to Imperial College London for serving up some excellent Indian food, including butter chicken, raitha and homemade mango pickle. Kept us going through all the talks! 🥭

So thrilled for my friend Shahnaz Ahsan on her stunning new food memoir, The Jackfruit Chronicles. Such a beautiful read - a touching multigenerational paen to her family and a poignant reflection on identity, racism & immigration. All interweaved with Bangladeshi food & recipes!

Wonderful catching up with a friend over a fabulous breakfast spread of Jordanian/Palestinian food at Paddington's Mihbaj - chicken musakhan, makdous (pickled aubergines with walnuts), feta haydari, labneh, ful and hummus. A real treat! 🫒

A brilliant meal at Norman Musa's Makan Makan Malaysian pop-up at Clapham's The King & Co (and wonderful surprise to see Karla Zazueta in the kitchen too!). The food was just fabulous - telur (eggs with sambal), popiah (spring rolls), Malay kari with tempeh, and beef rendang. 🌶️

A real joy and privilege to chair this Guild of Food Writers panel event on writing food memoir, featuring such fabulous writers as Shahnaz Ahsan, Anna Ansari and Felicity Cloake. Really loved hearing all their stories and reflections, and such a rich discussion too. 📚

The Jackfruit Chronicles by Shahnaz Ahsan isn't just a stunning piece of food memoir, it's full of fabulous Bangladeshi recipes too. Including this one for Ammu's aloo murghi jhol - her mother's chicken and potato curry - which went down a treat round ours. So delicious! 🍲
