🚨 The Environment and Public Works Committee's groundbreaking climate and equity provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act comply with the Senate rules and are able to proceed to the floor.

I am especially pleased that our methane emissions reduction program, environmental justice block grants, and climate bank provisions were approved. They will ensure a safer climate, create good-paying jobs, and lift up communities across the country.

Legislating is about forethought and endurance

Today U.S. EPA is thought of solely as a regulatory agency for #climate. By enacting #IRA, Congress will open the door for EPA to change its relationship w/ American society. The agency will respond w/ partnerships, incentives, & regs. EPA can become an agency for climate solutions.

Any speculation on use of the “magic minute” today?

The Inflation Reduction Act passes with 220 aye votes. The comprehensive climate legislation passed by the House in 2009 had 219 aye votes.

Sens Carper, Schumer, Manchin, Speaker Pelosi & others in Congress deserve all the credit for the Inflation Reduction Act. Its a historic step to address climate change. They were helped by dozens of staffers including me. Thanks Jody Freeman for the opty to talk about the IRA
