Reformers are advocating for the state to pay benefits to claimants after 21 days of limbo if they can't determine eligibility. This would get money into hands of workers without income almost immediately, and was proposed by PUP and is backed by Community Legal Services of Philadelphia.

BREAKING: Over 9 million workers relying on federal pandemic unemployment programs are going to be completely cut off this Labor Day. This is an entirely preventable crisis that will exacerbate existing racial and gender inequities. 🧵 #FixUI dol.gov/ui/data.pdf

Today PUP joined our partners again to testify in City Council and urge them to support 2 new City Health Centers in Northeast Philadelphia. New patients at Health Center 10 on Cottman Ave need to wait a year for their first appointment. Build the Health Centers now!

tinyurl.com/4jpum4vm Patients and community residents spoke out and Council heard them. A year is too long to wait for a doctor’s appointment. Northeast Philly needs the new Health Centers now!

I am so incredibly proud of the work that stakeholders, advocates and legislators in Harrisburg did to secure the $2.5 million in funding necessary to launch a statewide Tenant Right to Counsel program. Grateful to celebrate back in Philly with you all!

Landlords filed 114,000 evictions in PA last year. Regardless of the outcome, those eviction records will always be visible, unfairly harming tenants who are searching for housing. Sign our petition demanding records get sealed, because we're #ReadytoRent tinyurl.com/32bbwrux

Having an eviction court filing on your record means many landlords won’t rent to you. But lots of tenants who receive eviction filings aren’t actually evicted. Join us on 9/26 at 10am at the south side of City Hall to tell our legislators, Seal Eviction Records Now!

timesleader.com/news/1674523/i… Unemployed workers organizing together to push the state were a key part of making this happen. We're happy to see wait times going down, and we'll keep fighting for more improvements to help the unemployed in Pennsylvania. はうはう

actionnetwork.org/fundraising/do… Donate to PUP today to support unemployed workers! During the pandemic we organized to get workers their benefits, and now wait times have come down. But the system still has issues and we need to keep pushing. Make a donation so we can keep up the fight!

mcall.com/2024/12/08/you… Sealing eviction records is not about protecting bad tenants, it’s about giving families a fair chance to recover from life’s hardships. Many evictions result from unavoidable circumstances such as job loss, medical emergencies or unaffordable rent hikes.
