A2: Previously, a lack of standardized protocols was a major obstacle to producing meaningful data for analysis. #adnichat

A2: But because of ADNI, we now have protocols that allow the direct comparison of results worldwide. #adnichat

A2: As a result of ADNI's contributions, studies funded by pharmaceuticals, NIH and private foundations use ADNI methods. #adnichat

A4: ADNI3 will recruit 1,200 new #study volunteers to join 800 current participants, enriching the existing dataset. #ADNIchat

A4: ADNI3 will also monitor #brain levels of the tau protein (a protein shown to be abnormal in #Alzheimers) in all subjects. #ADNIchat

A4: ADNI3 will feature new tests that provide additional, real-time data to create a better picture of #Alzheimers progression. #ADNIchat

A4: A test that assesses cognitive function by computer will be available for patients to take in the doctor's office & at home. #ADNIchat

A4: Another test will measure basic financial task perf. b/c difficulty handling #money is an early warning sign of #Alzheimers. #ADNIchat

A4: It will look at the complex interaction between the #brain & #body using a new "systems biology" holistic approach #ADNIchat
