Good letter in The Times. What if your diagnosis is wrong? What if you take the assisted suicide drugs but your family only finds out afterwards that you had much longer to live? Why are we treating six months as science - it might as well be tarot cards?

Great to see our peer reviewed paper on the #Retention of #Nurses in #GeneralPractice published. Some of the experiences of nurses are shocking and upsetting. Link to paper in reply. Plesase read and share. Losing skilled and experienced #GPNs will significantly negatively

Laura Carnall RGN, GPN, NMP, QN Wes Streeting The RCN 1/ The majority of #GeneralPracticeNurses have not received any pay uplifts in decades, we know this from national surveys and from research.. and yet they keep the ‘business’ of general practice afloat…

Laura Carnall RGN, GPN, NMP, QN Wes Streeting The RCN 2/ Nurses are moving (now) into private enterprise and away from practices in order to survive, sustain & support their families. This is a devastating situation ( but need not be so) with a little support & the right political will & change.

Laura Carnall RGN, GPN, NMP, QN Wes Streeting The RCN 3/Our patients & our communities lose out ultimately, relationships that have been forged & formed over many years should count for something, but sadly the clinical social & economic value of nursing is yet to be realised.

2/2 Rashielee Care Home we have a dedicated #namaste room and use namaste care alongside reflexology, massage and Playlist for Life to enhance wellbeing of those with advanced #dementia. The room is seasonally decorated to offer connection to time and place.

The shift to community will not happen without nurses - poorly paid GPNs, unworkable DN caseloads, overlooked social care nurses…These skilled practitioners are the bedrock of our future health & care but we’re losing them, to the detriment of us all.

If government really wants to shift care into the community, it needs to retain a proficient community nursing workforce. Currently that's not happening. nuffieldtrust.org.uk/resource/the-l…
