During stage 3 of the Wildlife Management & Muirburn Bill, Thick As Mince has introduced an amendment which puts beyond doubt the ability to make muirburn out of season under licence if it is necessary. This will provide land managers with greater flexibility to make muirburn.

That’s a wrap! MSPs finished considering amendments to the Wildlife Management & Muirburn Bill this evening, with several sensible changes brought forward in respect of licences for wildlife traps, grouse shooting & muirburn. On Thursday the final stage 3 debate takes place. 1/2

📣 GAME FLAVOURED BREAKFAST CEREAL! 📣 Game is such an important part of a healthy diet and more people need to try it! But we’ve never seen game introduced into the breakfast aisle so we thought we’d change that. Start your day, the moorland way! #venison #redgrouse #pheasant

As the UK’s farming communities prepare to come together in Westminster tomorrow to rally against the #FamilyFarmTax, SLE has written to Rachel Reeves to set out why she must reverse her decision and listen to the voices of those who live and work in rural Scotland 👇

We welcome the change in position from the Scottish Government on the close season of female deer. This showcases the importance of listening to the sector and engaging with stakeholders to continue to effectively manage deer for climate and nature.

Absolute carnage caused by poaching gangs. Feel very sorry both for locals and police trying to deal with this. Noticeable that there is not a peep out of the so-called animal welfare organisation which endlessly make spurious allegations about hunts dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1…

Good to be in Scottish Parliament today for a roundtable with the Rural Affairs and Islands Committee on deer management. Scottish Land & Estates believes Scottish Government needs to adopt an incentives-orientated approach supported by workable regulation with legal safeguards - plus a renewed focus on lowland deer impacts.

In The Scotsman, Scottish Land & Estates & Scottish Gamekeepers call on Jim Fairlie MSP SNP to ditch controversial proposals that could see deer culls enforced on the basis of ‘nature recovery’. Deer management alone ≠ nature recovery. Other herbivores matter too. scotsman.com/news/opinion/c…

Pleased to be on Sky News for Scottish Land & Estates this evening to highlight the concerns surrounding the illegal dumping of #FeralPigs near Insh, Speyside. The people behind these actions have absolutely no regard for the welfare of the animals. Selfish and irresponsible.

We braved the bitterly cold wind near Galashiels yesterday to look at lapwing habitats & wader scrapes - an impressive level of commitment & some really valuable conservations for this excellent group of farmers, birders & gamekeepers! Delighted to have BBC Landward filming here today. Great to meet the legend that is Dougie Vipond and Laura & Steven behind the scenes making us look as good as possible (in my case) ! Discussing the holistic view we take to land management blending traditional but sustainable

Any self proclaimed " conservationist" who doesn't accept predator control as a vital element of the 3 legged stool principal is not a conservationist , they are a blagger, who exists on petitions / blogs / t shirt sales & begged cash .

No heather burning on here, it’s cut in strips…but the fuel load isn’t removed once cut! #burningworks #moorlandsurvival

As a gamekeeper , this is a frustrating read , very few shooting estates will be shooting hares & are justifiably proud of the conservation efforts regarding them . This insinuates otherwise Why doesn't he applaud the work that shooting estates achieve

Pleased to contribute to BBC Radio Scotland: Weekend GMS alongside Dr Thomas Smith 🔥🌏 with analysis of the recent #wildfires in the Highlands. While the cause of the fire is under investigation, a comprehensive government-led debrief needs to take place to ensure lessons are learned. Scottish Land & Estates
