Being sick, realising your body is mortal, you have no control, awakens a sense of urgency in you. It is a now or never feeling. I don't write much anymore but I am so grateful to my readers who read me when I could.

Rasna chronicled Kenya, but most of all, she wept for Kenya. She used to call me and ask: why, why is Kenya like this? Why are people suffering like this? And then she would weep. Kenya was not worthy of her tears. Rest well Rasna. We won't give up on that Kenya you dreamed of.

Gutted by the passing of Rasna Warrah, a warrior journalist who did so much for Kenya and the world. In 2018, eight of us, including Rasna, resigned as Nation Media Group columnists, in protest against the constriction of editorial independence in the paper.
