The Alaska Rescue Coordination Center has requested the Alaska National Guard's assistance in the search for a missing plane in the Nome area.  An Alaska Air National Guard HC-130J is actively searching this evening and an HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter is on the way to assist.

The Army National Guard UH-60L Black Hawk stationed in Nome is also prepared to join in the search tomorrow weather depending.

The AKANG HC-130J searched the area last night for several hours but were unable to locate the missing aircraft. Due to bad weather, the HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter had to turn back before arriving at the search area.  They remain ready to continue support as requested.

An Alaska Army National Guard UH-60L Black Hawk stationed in Nome is also ready to support if requested by the Alaska Rescue Coordination Center and the weather allows for safe operation.

The USCG remains the lead agency for the aerial search and rescue efforts and will coordinate any requests for additional support through the Alaska Rescue Coordination Center.

In collaboration with the Alaska State Troopers and the NTSB, Alaska National Guard aircraft and personnel are conducting recovery efforts today at the site of the Bering Air plane crash.

In alignment with Department of Defense (DoD) Instruction 5400.17 and recent Executive Orders issued by the President, the Alaska National Guard is reviewing and adjusting its social media content to ensure compliance with DoD policies and priorities.
