The boston tea party was a historical moment that we’re taught in school when people rioted and protested against tax on tea. Now people are doing the same over the murder of an unarmed black man and suddenly it’s unethical and unamerican. spot the difference for me.

As my father explained during his lifetime, a riot is the language of the unheard.

If you killed a man w/ health conditions, you still killed a man. George Floyd couldn’t breathe. 3 officers held him down, & one w/ a recorded, violent history kneed his neck as others helped. They waited 9 minutes for his last breath. This was not an accident. It was murder.

I was pepper sprayed and handcuffed tonight along with Diana Richardson. We came in solidarity and to keep the peace. We are still processing what happened.

People have come from outside of our community and or state to wreak havoc and take advantage of our pain and burn us to the ground. Protests aren't always peaceful, but last night was not protest. Last night was tactical and methodical destruction carried out by outsiders.

For all the protestors, pepper spray is oil based. If you get sprayed DO NOT rub your eyes. Immediately blink as much as you can to wash out some of the oil with your own tears. Then, wash your eyes with baby shampoo and rinse copiously with water. Be safe.

In the Rose Garden, Trump says he is an “ally of all peaceful protestors” as the world watched peaceful protestors being tear gassed outside of the WH gates.

I would never condone violence. Ever. But I certainly understand where it comes from. A building can be restored, a human life cannot. As my father explained during his lifetime, riots are the language of the unheard.
