Today, in class, I heard a student talking about a raccoon& I asked what she was talking about. She said she rescued a baby raccoon who had a chili can stuck on his head. She said she threw her friend’s jacket on him and she said,“He hissed at me,but I got the can off!”So. Proud.

I mean I’m teaching 6 courses and yeah, I did leave that small bag that has all the money (under eye concealer,) and stuff at home to day, but the students are excited about the course. Everything’s good. Everything’s great.

When we visited Asheville this June, artists we met were SO good to us. As a Houstonian, I hate this for them. We cannot continue to be surprised.We must invest in change—invest in infrastructure, curbing climate change, &we must invest in climate readiness—if we love ppl.

Today in courses we talked wisdom texts—for ex, looked at a v. old one people in the Middle East wrote way back—& we looked at ever timely The Roots song, “Dear God 2.0.” Students seemed to enjoy the pairing. I’m whoooooped, but it was a good/life meaning-giving day
