👉 home.infn.it/it/comunicazio…

#OTD last year, the last spacewalk to repair the International Space Station’s Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer-02 was completed by @Astro_Luca and Astronaut Andrew “Drew” Morgan. This scientific device is helping researchers better understand dark matter and the origins of the universe. youtube.com/watch?v=WJDiZ_…

A year ago this week Luca Parmitano Jessica Meir Christina H Koch and I completed the 4 spacewalk series to repair AMS-02, one of the most complex ever performed. Partners across the globe labored for years to make it a resounding success CERN RWTH Aachen Human Spaceflight NASA Goddard

#INFN70 👉storia.infn.it/2011-2021/

#OnThisDay Austrian physicist Victor Hess discovered cosmic rays, leading to the 1936 @Nobelprize in physics. 💫 Cosmic rays have proved useful ever since in physics experiments, including several at CERN, such as CLOUD, AMS-02 Collaboration and LHCf. Read more: home.cern/science/physic…

The #PhotoOfTheWeek is about AMS-02 Collaboration, the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer located on the International Space Station. In 2020, AMS scientists were in contact with the ISS astronauts as they did four spacewalks to service AMS. Find out more: home.cern/science/experi…

#ThrowbackThursday to 16 May 2011, and the launch of the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS-02 Collaboration). It was delivered to the International Space Station by the Space Shuttle Endeavour. #FollowTheProtons Images by NASA Full video of the launch: youtube.com/watch?v=ozWjFU…

These photos from 2019 show International Space Station astronauts getting to grips with the cooling system technology of the Alpha Magnetic Specrometre. A few months later, Luca Parmitano and Astronaut Andrew “Drew” Morgan contributed to repairing the AMS detector aboard the ISS. home.cern/news/news/expe…

🌟The AMS-02 Collaboration experiment looks for #dark matter, #antimatter and missing matter at an altitude of 400km, from the International Space Station. The detector was installed in 2011 and sent data back to NASA and #CERN for analysis.

➡️ home.infn.it/it/news-infn/5…

“I was the last commander of the #spaceshuttle #Endeavour. I brought up what’s arguably the most valuable payload ever floated in the space shuttle: It was the #AlphaMagneticSpectrometer on my last flight.” Senator Mark Kelly about AMS-02 Collaboration : esquire.com/news-politics/…

Wonderful to visit with Professor Samuel Ting & learn more about the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS-02 Collaboration) that captures data from a detector on the @Space_StationAMS. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), NASA, & CERN collaboration on AMS helps us to explore the beginnings of our universe. 🌟

AMS-02 Collaboration is getting an upgrade! Glad to be on the team to evaluate the extensive spacewalking tasks needed to get the job done. We are bringing NASA's great EVA expertise to the fore, including some of our Hubble team. Go AMS_02! Go #ISS ! PS: That is me in the space suit!

Data from the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer on International Space Station has led to precise behavioral measurements of deuterons, proton-neutron pairs found in cosmic rays. These findings advance the search for dark matter and deepen an understanding of the universe. doi.org/10.1103/PhysRe…
