Closing out the 2023-2024 academic year on a high! Incredibly proud of the Johns Hopkins Cardiology Advanced HF/ Transplant program for a record breaking academic year! 🔥 51 heart transplants 80 ECMO 75 Impellas DCD program initiated ⬆️ 1 year transplant survival (98%) ⬆️ 1 year



LAVA ECMO has been a great strategy to vent the left side, however stasis may still exist when there is no intrinsic pulsatility. Impella 5.5, while challenging to place in these situations, provides the best solution for LV venting. #ecmo #impella Adv Biomed

Sensitized patients with biventricular shock and VT have very few options. Recently, Chetan Pasrija and I elected to use 2 HM3s or a HM6 as a TAH. Thanks to the entire Johns Hopkins Cardiology HF group for continuing to support giving high risk patients options.
