The Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund has saved families from falling apart and allowed traumatised children to heal. The government’s failure to support these children through the #ASGSF puts this all at risk and leaves families scrambling to cover the costs. (1/2)

The Department for Education spent £46.5 million on advertising, consultancy and marketing costs in the last year. Half of that could expand the #ASGSF by 50%. If the Department for Education truly want to expand opportunity to every child, they could reverse the cuts now.  (2/2)

There is consensus of opinion that, rather than saving money, cutting the ASGSF will cost the treasury more. Economically it’s an own goal, and it will cost vulnerable children and young adults much more than pounds and pence. Janet Daby MP Rachel Reeves

Another low from this government - cutting therapeutic support to some of the most vulnerable kids in society. Funding cut by 40% for adoptive/kinship children. Out of the blue, no consultation Investing in it now will save money later, unbelievably economically shortsighted😡
