Replacing film crews and cast with one person using AI tech isn't progress. I attended a talk in Cannes where the panelists posited that people still need to use their directing, editing and creative skills for AI. But what if you never get an opportunity to get those skills?

Let's pick just one small example. The Runner. An entry-level job that many filmmakers once did and an essential part of the crew. If this job is eliminated, then how do newer entrants gain skills? Going straight to prompting AI isn't going to teach them directing.

It's not going to allow them to learn from others, it won't give them ideas, it will stunt their creative growth. Now apply this across the board. Entire departments wiped out and replaced with a prompt.

I'm not against AI in general, but I have serious reservations about how this tech is being used. It might be cheaper and easier to use it to make ads etc. but it destroys an entire creative economy. How is that a good thing?
