Quote/story I heard today: A boy and a horse are in the woods. The boy says "I can't see a way through." The horse then asks "Can you see your next step?" The boy says yes. The horse replies "Then just take that." Focus on your next step and you'll eventually reach your goal.

I love finding books like these at thrift stores. Calculator included, I paid less than $7 total. Good reference material...#Nerd #BookLover

ALERRT has released first part of AAR for the Uvalde school shooting. Some highlights for me: potential door lock issues, officers losing momentum, and ineffective establishment of incident command. Good opportunity to learn from this incident. #Uvalde news.txst.edu/inside-txst/20…

Anyone more familiar with gun control and tax research: would something like this potentially work for preventing active shooter events? washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2022/…

Unfortunately, another sad incident in El Paso, Texas at the Cielo Vista Mall. However, the response from local law enforcement was outstanding...

One of the great non-intended consequences of doing a PhD is that it accustoms you to variable-delay reward schedules. To survive and thrive in graduate school you have to find the rewards in the little daily things and also be able to work for 4 to 6 years toward one end goal.
