Cypripedium acaule blooming in Brunswick, Maine.

These Cypripedium acaule (pink lady slippers) are flowering in the swampy woods adjacent to our house. I love living in a Maine swamp. #peatlands #swamplife #boglife #Maine

Almost-7-yr-old and I experimented with a non-Newtonian fluid (‘oobleck!’) and attempted to make a pink piedmont #glacier. Modeled after Malaspina Glacier (📸: NASA)… Maybe need to adjust the cornstarch a little, as it was a bit of a runaway glacier, but fun nevertheless 🙂.

This morning after my run I encountered this great spangled fritillary butterfly (Speyeria cybele) on a milkweed flower.
