As starvation worsens in war-torn #Gaza, UN agencies repeat warnings that Israel’s decision to support a “one-week scale-up” of aid is far from enough to reverse deadly malnutrition rates in the enclave news.un.org/en/story/2025/…

The world's famine alert system is warning us – in the starkest possible terms – that any remaining window to avert mass starvation deaths in Gaza is about to close. A quick dive into what the report tells us:

"In #Gaza, women and girls are facing the impossible choice of starving to death at their shelters or venturing out in search of food and water, at the extreme risk of being killed. Their children are starving to death before their eyes." - UN Women

#MuslimGiving holds vast potential to transform lives. If channeled through structured, solution-focused approaches, it can drive real change. The Islamic Philanthropy Fund at IOM - UN Migration 🇺🇳, a legacy initiative championed by Amy Pope, aims to unlock that impact.

Over half a million Afghans were displaced or forced to migrate within and beyond the country due to climate shocks and environmental hazards between Jan and Mar 2025. Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) has mapped climate vulnerability in every village across #Afghanistan in a first-of-its-kind study.

Pleased to be in #Afghanistan with Iori Kato🇺🇳IOM to support our emergency response for Afghan returnees and engage with partners on the ground to discuss ongoing cooperation. Returns from Iran are at a record high, but resources are falling short.

Today at the Islam Qala border with Iran, I saw a nonstop flow of Afghan returnees. Our reception and transit centres are overflowing. Many of the returnees, especially women and girls, need urgent support. The scale is alarming and #Afghanistan cannot face this alone.

Grateful for a productive exchange in Kabul with EUinAfghanistan. The EU 🇪🇺 remains a key partner in supporting our efforts to address urgent needs of vulnerable Afghans, especially returnees, and to promote reintegration, social cohesion, and long-term solutions.

At the border, I saw families arriving with nothing; tired, scared and uncertain of their future. IOM and partners only have resources to support 1 in 10 who need urgent help. It is a situation no one should have to face. #Afghanistan should not be forgotten.
