Nutrition is such an important factor in falls prevention! A lack of proper nutrients in your diet can result in loss of muscle mass, reduced strength and limited mobility. Make sure you talk to your primary care provider to determine if you are getting enough in your diet.

As we head into the holiday season with parties, family gatherings, and food galore it can be difficult to make healthy food choices. Try to be mindful and listen to your body. Eat slowly so you notice when you are satisfied and not over full. Your body will thank you later!

With many holiday parties coming up, it can be easy to lose track of alcohol consumption. However, try to be mindful of how much alcohol you’re consuming. Alcohol can cause unwanted side effects when mixed with certain medications or affect your overall judgement and balance.

If recent years have taught us anything, it's the importance of social connection in our lives. Making time to visit friends and relatives is what the holiday season is all about! It doesn't have to be complicated either, even a simple call can brighten up someone’s mood!

It's easy to go overboard with holiday spending. When the time for holiday shopping, make sure to create a budget and stick to it. You can also try these alternatives: 1)Donate to a charity in someone's name. 2)Give homemade gifts. 3)Start a family/friends gift exchange.

Try to keep in mind that the holidays are especially difficult for those who are alone or who have lost someone recently. Try to extend an act of kindness to those you know are without family and friends during this time of year. Even a small act of kindness can go a long way.

With all that is happening this time of year, it’s easy to get distracted and overwhelmed. Take deep breaths and do your best to be present in the moment. Practicing mindfulness and choosing to be present can go a long way when it comes to your mental health.

Feeling lonely or down around this time of year is common, especially if you don't have a lot of close family or friends around. Or if you have recently lost a loved one. Try talking to someone you know – even just reaching out with a text, call or a video chat might be helpful.

Holiday guilt is a very real thing. It is often too easy to spread ourselves thin over the holidays. Saying yes when you should say no can leave you feeling resentful and overwhelmed. Friends and family will understand if you can't participate in every event or activity!
