The Blackburn-Cruz compromise includes a loophole that continues to subject many AI/kids safety laws to the moratorium - even the ELVIS Act. The new language only upholds laws that don't place a "disproportionate burden " on AI. See Institute for Law & AI's analysis: law-ai.org/the-ai-morator…

There is no reason at all for S.C. to participate in the AI moratorium and we all need to remember our senators that approve the Big Beautiful Bill with it in there. SC has always stood for States Rights and if you agree in your state rt. Tag your senators. Pass without it.

Honestly, this just pisses me off. When we do pass a law and end up having to spend millions to fight in court with Big Tech……everyone needs to remember we didn’t need this in the Bill to begin with. Hopeful that it will get vetoed out if we don’t have enough senators to

Today we released a letter from 130+ organizations in opposition to the new AI moratorium text. The new provision still handicaps states, leaves children without protections, and puts billions in BEAD funding under threat. No version of preemption is acceptable.

These school districts are stepping up to shield America’s kids from Meta’s harmful algorithms – now a Blackburn-Cruz amendment will stop their fight and hand Meta the win. That’s why we’re fighting the Cruz AI moratorium.

BREAKING: Bannon says live on Bannon’s WarRoom that he's spoken with Sen. Blackburn, and after feedback from the parliamentarian, she's against the AI state law moratorium deal with Cruz. No deal.

Incredible. Sen. Marsha Blackburn deserves massive credit for going out on a limb here to protect kids and artists. The twists and turns of this fight are going to give me a heart attack.

This is so important. Yet again, the new language maintained severe conditions. On face value it appeared to exempt child safety legislation from the moratorium BUT only so long as it does not unduly and disproportionately burden AI or automated decision systems.

This is how you take on big tech! Thank you Senator Sen. Marsha Blackburn for your leadership! Let's remove this provision added by Congress to deny states’ rights to defend our citizens and pass President Donald J. Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill!

Oh my god. Amendment passes 99-1. We actually won, the moratorium is dead. Cruz and Thune themselves voted for it on the floor.

.Sen. Marsha Blackburn before voting to strike the AI moratorium: ā€œWhat we know is this: this body has proven that they cannot legislate on emerging technology…but you know who has passed [worthy AI legislation]? IT IS OUR STATESā€

I have never been happier to help make something happen. If we wrap and pull this off it will be the biggest rebuke of tech industry lobbying in a very, very, very long time. Thank you Sen. Marsha Blackburn.

Today states like CA, TN, CO, UT can breathe a sigh of relief knowing their state laws are protected And 40+ AGs suing Meta And 14 AGs suing TikTok And AGs suing Snap And school districts suing Big Tech And the hundreds of parents battling for justice for their late children

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (@marshablackburn) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Yes, we did. I was pleased to introduce this amendment on behalf of our children, states, creators, and individuals nationwide. Thank you to the bipartisan group of colleagues who agreed with me on this. washingtonpost.com/technology/202…
