Lovely big flock of 32 Corn Buntings on the South Downs. I see many but not usually in this area specifically nor in such a big flock.

A couple of distant shots of the Least Sandpiper found by P Bowley at the Stilt Pool, Medmerry, Chichester. Hard going but was finally rewarded after a lot of searching.

Saw a Short-eared Owl in flight which seemed to drop miles away, but clearly didn't as walked into it a few minutes later. First Wheatear too in the same area, Angmering. Sussex Birding Sussex Ornithology Worthing Birding and Wildlife

8k walk from home around Angmering. First Whitethroat of the year and so good to find something a bit different - Green Sandpiper in the last of the water. 7 Wheatears, a few Swallows and a Willow Warbler were the best from 46 sps.

2 Hoopoe this afternoon at the North Wall Pagham. Incredible to have one perched singing in a tree. Tricky surroundings all the time for photos, but pretty special to hear.

A good walk of 8k after work around local patch gave incredible views of a Hobby that just sat there completely unphased by me passing underneath it. Mandarin duck made for a nice shot in good light on Decoy pond, Angmering.

For the first time since 2021, no Tawny Owl chicks were found in 25 nest boxes monitored by Sussex Barn Owl Group.☹️🦉 A worrying sign, possibly tied to prey shortages. This is being investigated with other groups. Full article here; tinyurl.com/44pakkhk
