Some thoughts from some very nice discussions with junior trainees at #DROS19 on impostor syndrome: if you’re a grad student it’s šŸ‘ to aspire to become Alan Spradling or Gerry Rubin or Lynn Cooley. But you’re not going to get there overnight. Neither did they 1/

A few weeks ago I left a cicada shell on my colleague’s desk to scare her. Today I came in to find this on my desk - our full lab reconstructed in terrifying detail. There’s an Irish one wearing glasses READING MY REVIEW PAPER. I’m simultaneously traumatised and dying of laughter

We are still accepting applications for this position. And note that we are flexible about the start date. If you are interested in this position, but have obligations until later in the year, that's ok, we are happy to accommodate.

I note that NW Arkansas is separate from the Deep South. This may not have been on purpose, but having just moved there, I can verify this is accurate.

We are not quite at that point yet. However, if the Covid19 pandemic continues even for 2 more months (not unlikely), I hope tenure & promotion committees will pay heed to this. The momentum-sapping effect of this especially on very young labs cannot be overstated
