Bernard Manin, a great thinker who helped us understand liberalism, representation and representative democracy, passed away on Thursday. His best-known work is 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘎𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵. His last book was on Montesquieu.
