I'll speak about my great-grandfather, Subadar-Major Bawa Singh & we'll explore the 23rd Sikh Pioneers and Sikh Light Infantry regiment through the eyes of collectors Avtar Bahra littlehistory'Sikhs . Medals, badges, photos, a rare postcard...and much more!

Officers in the 23rd Sikh Pioneers, Lt-Col Robert Nicolas & Subadar-Major Bawa Singh both fought together in Tibet, NWF 1908 (Zakha Khel) & Aden, Egypt & Palestine during WW1. Their descendants would meet over a century later in Walthamstow Avtar Bahra !

I wasn't expecting this in the mail. Aanchal Malhotra a lovely surprise, thank you! I'm extremely touched and can't wait to start!

Another Indian POW Iâd like to know more about is 5433 Havildar Clerk Ganpatrao Tawde of the 5 Mahratta Light Infantry. 5 MLI had the largest single group of POWs in German hands in the war â around 1200 of them. No confirmed photo of him yet - this is Belgaum '43 National Army Museum

A group photograph of 1st Umed Infantry Kotah taken at Gurdaspur during first Indo Pak War. It was cmd by Lt Col Durjan Sal Singh. 2 companies of the unit were attached with now disbanded 4/11 Gorkha Rifles at Dera Baba Nanak. Unit moved to Dras just after the war. Adil Rana Chhina
