I graduated in engineering. There is nothing like getting hands on with pulleys to bring the theory to some concrete tactile appreciation. Education should be more than explicit instruction to pass tests.

Primary educators 👋🏻 I am interviewing teachers for a research project aimed at understanding how teachers learn from each other in the workplace. But my sample is currently very secondary heavy… Could you (please!) spare me an hour of your time this week or next? Thanks!

I have been asked to Chair a Mental Health Conference in June. They charge £300 per attendee and host around 150 people. They offered me a free ticket to Chair and 2 comp tickets. I replied and said I would charge a fee and they declined. Crap business model.

Adrian Bethune MCCT I’ve been asked to speak at a MH conference too. They charge $450 and when I asked about fees they said none of the other speakers had enquired about fees and they were a charity. 😳

Adrian Bethune MCCT Sounds like these astroturf-y ones. Just saw an edu EDI one promoting their “grassroots style” conference which I (perhaps incorrectly) took to mean tickets at £100+ and speakers made to feel ‘grateful for the opportunity’ by low or no pay.

Adrian Bethune MCCT Does my nut. “Exposure” doesn’t pay my bills or put food in my children’s bellies. Also, if they’re contacting me, I guess I’m already getting enough exposure.

Adrian Bethune MCCT Work for free for a charity that aligns with your values - yes. Work for free on projects that jave a deep meaning for you - yes. Work for free for a company or individual business - why? It's the same BS for some artists as well.

Amanda Spielman So you are happy to just ignore that the ‘research’ reports were appalling and that the researchers quoted in many cases stated that the consultations reached about their research were just wrong. E.g. that research on adults was used re: primary / EY. #incompetent

Evidence shows whole school approaches to wellbeing have been shown to improve: * Attainment * Wellbeing * Attendance * Behaviour * Teacher Wellbeing Basically, most of the big challenges schools are facing right now. Not a silver bullet but a no brainer, imo 🧠 #Teachappy
