The validation of Uganda’s #AfCFTA Strategy supported by UNDP Uganda is a significant milestone as Government of Uganda, UN Development and partners position Uganda to harness potential of the African Continental Free Trade Area #AfCFTA and to strengthen & accelerate intra-African trade.

To enable Uganda to harness the potential of the #AfCFTA, UN Development has supported over 1,000 small and medium enterprises #SMEs operated by women and youth to finalize 300 business deals with DRC, South Sudan, Somalia, Tanzania and Rwanda, and making 800 manufacturers export ready.

UNDP has also worked closely with Uganda’s business membership organizations to enhance awareness of market opportunities; facilitated strategic dialogues on the role of commercial diplomacy & women business leaders in driving Uganda’s readiness for the #AfCFTA...

...and recently supported trade missions to Japan, UK and USA to build business-to-business links for Ugandan enterprises.

The #AfCFTA itself represents a significant milestone on the journey to inclusive growth, sustainable development and African integration 🌍

Much of Uganda’s exports are concentrated within East Africa’s markets. AfCFTA Secretariat Official presents an opportunity for Uganda to expand to new markets.
