Glasgow SUTR statement: We want to thank and celebrate the anti-racist movement in Glasgow, who today spent over 10 hours confronting the far right who were outnumbered in our city centre.

After 6 hours, where 500 anti-racists, pro Palestine activists, LGBT+ activists and trade unionists saw off between 200-250 fascists and racists and whittled them down to a pathetic 7 neo-nazis - Glasgow ensured that we held the space on Buchanan Street and drowned out their bile

Cabaret Against Hate, as always, did a fantastic job of bringing music and solidarity and kept spirits high throughout the day!

Despite this, the fantastic movement of solidarity saw off the small rump and made sure we held the space for the full 10 hours, celebrating that Glasgow will always stand against racism and the far right.

But the numbers the far right managed to bring to Glasgow is a worrying sign that the racists have been emboldened by the likes of Reform UK, Trump and Keir’s Starmer’s ever growing capitulation to racism as seen in his disgusting powell-esque ‘Island of Strangers’ speech

Yesterday we joined the anti-racist movement in Glasgow. We were there for over 10 hours confronting the far right who were outnumbered in our city centre. After 10 hours of confrontations against the far right they left & we stood strong against their racist & sick ideologies.
