Last week, AFIEGO and IGENEastAfrica organised an exchange learning visit to the clean energy hub & briquettes making site in Fort Portal city and Kabarole district respectively. The participants explored the different clean cooking technologies and their benefits among others.

Earlier this week, AFIEGO held a sensitisation meeting in Hoima district on the EACOP ESIA compliance requirements during the construction phase. The meeting empowered locals with knowledge on environmental protection, rights and how to hold project developers accountable.

On Tuesday, AFIEGO met with 👭 women affected by EACOP in Hoima district. The women shared deep concerns over the poor implementation of the Livelihood Restoration Plan.They also raised fears about a water well being too close to the pipeline and clearing of 🌲 among others.

AFIEGO met with hotel owners in Buliisa district. They shared their frustrations about the lack of business despite promises made during early stages of oil development. Many invested heavily expecting opportunities from the oil sector but these have not materialised.
