Class prep is like a gas. It will fill whatever container provided. I find the quality is about the same whether I set aside 7hrs or 2hrs. Protect research time by limiting prep to the couple of hours leading up to class. Panic and anxiety are tremendous fodder for creativity.

My heart has been heavy. My aunt and uncle both worked with Dr. Bonnie. My aunt is her prophyte. Our Soror deserved better. I told my mom that older Black women have made it very clear that academia is detrimental to our health. That it’s our biggest “silent” killer.

Today I successfully defended my dissertation. I am officially Dr. Strawbridge.
