Glimpses of the ongoing Caregivers Training on Geriatric Care !

Ageing Nepal successfully conducted the closing ceremony of the first Caregivers Training on Geriatric Care under JICA Partnership Project . Mr. Krishna Prasad Lamsal, Senior Programme Manager at JICA Nepal, formally handed over certificates of completion to 10 caregivers.

Representatives from JICA Nepal, Ageing Nepal, RHINOKINO, and the Nayoro Social Welfare Foundation held a meeting with the Mayor, Chief Administrative Officer, department heads, and Ward Chairpersons of Namobuddha Municipality on 15th July 2025.

The Japanese television channel NHK recently visited two community care centers in Nepal: Nisahaya Sewa Sadan and Himalayan Old Age Home. The NHK team captured videos and photos during their visit, which will be broadcast in the near future. Ageing Nepal coordinated the visit.

The Japanese television channel NHK covered the Senior Citizens Self-Care Project of Ageing Nepal in Wards 7 and 14 of Chandragiri Municipality on 16th July 2025. The team also interviewed a 104-year-old woman of Bandevi Day Care Center.

Ageing Nepal, in collaboration with Namobudha Municipality and the Nayoro Social Welfare Foundation, is organizing a three-day training program on Caring for Older Persons for the Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) of the municipality.

The 3-day training program on Caring for Older Persons for Female Community Health Volunteers concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony. Mr. Krishna Giri, the Chief Administrative Officer of Namobuddha Municipality, handed over certificates of completion to 11 FCHVs.

An orientation & discussion meeting was held at Chandragiri Municipality regarding the project on #HealthyAgeing. The Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Head of Health Department, Chairpersons & representatives of various wards, and Community health center incharge participated in the meeting

Coordinator of the 16th Human Rights National Magna Meet (HRNMM), formally handed over the responsibility of organizing the 17th HRNMM to new convening organizations i.e., WHR as the main Convenor, with Ageing Nepal and Unification Nepal serving as Co-convenors.

Ageing Nepal provided an orientation session on ageing issues for Area Welfare Officers from 22 different areas across Nepal, along with representatives from the Safeguard Team at the Gorkha Welfare Trust headquarter on 6th August 2025.

A research article titled "Risk of Dementia in Nepal: A Cross-Sectional Survey in Mountainous, Hilly, and Lowland Regions" has been published in PLOS ONE. Ageing Nepal played a key role in facilitating data collection for the study. journals.plos.org/plosone/articl…

Ageing Nepal organized ward-level meetings with the Chairperson, Secretary, or representatives of 11 wards of Namobuddha Municipality to share ward-specific research findings and introduce the monthly home visit programme for older people.

Trainers conducted a monitoring visit to observe caregiving practices & identify challenges faced by the caregivers trained in Geriatric Care under JICA Partnership Project (JPP). Based on the findings, Supplementary Training programme will be developed.
