SARS-CoV-2 causes brain damage. This study highlights long-lasting brain impairment in Long Covid patients. Cognitive impairments were found in executive and attentional domains, w/ memory issues linked to changes in white matter and brain connectivity. frontiersin.org/journals/neuro…

Whats the brain age, and why? In our new preprint Simon M. Hofmann @Ole_Go_ investigate the link of relevance maps from DNN BrainAge prediction with classical neuroimaging markers of aging. Check out which are most relevant 🚨doi.org/10.1101/2024.0…

Happy to share one of my very favorites of our new papers: nature.com/articles/s4139… Early presence of Alzheimer's MRI patterns relate to cardiovascular, immune, and neurondocrine systems, subsequent progression relates to APOE4, tau, amyloid Led by Junhao (Hao) Wen

Huge publication in nature by Calico disentangling the contribution of genetic diversity to dietary interventions! Treasure chest of results - like the observation that the biggest determinant of lifespan extension are immune- but not metabolism-related shorturl.at/vASeP

Petersen et al. show that assessing the brain circuitry affected by cerebrovascular white matter lesions improves the accuracy with which cognitive performance can be predicted in memory clinic patients compared to using lesion volume alone. tinyurl.com/3fs85658

If you preregister, you should do so well - the gold standard is a machine-readable hypothesis test, as we describe here: journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/25… If you need to deviate, do so while evaluating the consequences as explained here: online.ucpress.edu/collabra/artic…. Sometimes >

TLDR: When age-matching pre- and post-menopausal women in UK Biobank, we don't find an effect of elevated WMHs after menopause! Hopefully this brings nuance to the field and motivates the acquisition of data purposefully designed to investigate women's health in aging
