Hi! Quick introduction, I completed my PhD in 2019 at the University of Southampton, UK in the effects of maternal obesity on offspring long term anxiety and HPA response. I am now a postdoc in Boston, USA researching lipid metabolism in the placenta! I love placenta research!

Fantastic news today! We are allowed to start our main experiments back up, can't wait to restart work on #placenta again :)

What a month back in the lab. So far I've calculated concentrations for a 3-day experiment wrong by a factor of 10. And today I used TBS instead of TBE buffer to run a bog standard gel I've done a million times. I'm going to blame those 4 months away from the bench! 🤦🏽‍♀️👩🏽‍🔬

Check out this amazing crocheted placenta that my Masters pal made. In awe of her skill... also in awe cos it plays a lullaby! #placenta #science

The face I made today when I tested a *very* budget reagent (from a company that not even my PI had heard of) against Thermofishers *very* pricey version, and it OUTPERFORMED IT. There is a gap in the market for science reagent reviews/comparisons and I would like to fill it.

Note to self: never come back from a lovely little holiday and tell your PI you are refreshed and ready to work. Your laptop WILL break and you WILL burst into tears in front of the computer repair technician. This all being 2 days before a grant submission too.

My PI sent me this after he finished going over my latest paper draft. I gotta say, this did more to silence the little mean voice in my head than any of my own self-care, self-affirmations, or "I'm good enough, smart enough, and gosh-darn-it people like me"s in the mirror.
