It's #CtenophoreDay, aka Comb Jelly Appreciation Day. Not so sure this M. leidyi will appreciate those tiny bites from its Beroe kreiselmates. Spoiler alert: Not-so-happy ending for lobed 10-0-4 lovers. Filmed at the Ctenophore Facility, Pawel Burkhardt Lab, @Sars_Centre Universitetet i Bergen

The ocean's midwater is home to aliens. Ctenophores drift by on rainbow comb-legs, siphonophore clones stretch a hundred feet long, and giant larvaceans secrete elaborate snot palaces. Here there be monsters—squishy, see-through monsters. vid:Joost Daniels, MBARI 1/n

We looked for pelagic hydrozoans in Oslofjord 🇳🇴🌊and found 27 spp –like this Rathkea octopunctata– that come and go with the seasons, depth, and the inner-outer fjord axis. It's all in our new paper at doi.org/10.3354/meps13…! #NorHydro #HYPNOprosjekt @Artsdatabanken Aino Hosia

Our recent paper was highlighted in MEPS with a pic of Aglantha digitale by the talented Joan J. Soto-Angel. This is one of the most common hydromedusae in Norway, and it can be particularly abundant in Oslofjord in winter #NorHydro #HYPNOprosjekt

#OpplevMarineholmen, the science fair celebrating Universitetet i Bergen's 75year anniversary, was a lot of fun! As you can see in the video, we from the Department of Natural History - and our visitors - had a great day!
