In the 21st century, Medicine is increasingly complex, and patients are increasingly complex. It is completely illogical to say “Modernising” Medicine involves letting unqualified people practise it. A Medical degree is pre-requisite for practising and training in Medicine. 1/

Latest Physician Associate/Anaesthesia Associate data from GMC 👇 The GMC employs 22 staff to manage PA/AA registration & revalidation. With only 2,466 registered, that’s a ratio of 1 staff member per 112 registrants Fees don’t cover costs, the shortfall is billed to DHSC

I only applied for medicine six years ago when I was told that it was a guaranteed job for life. Yet the disastrous decisions regarding recruitment practices and doctor replacement have led to this situation. We have doctors who will be unemployed soon, how is that acceptable?

In every situation where consultants are keen to employ PAs I haven’t seen any where the role wouldn’t be better filled by a resident doctor, locally employed doctor or specialist nurse Trained, registered and regulated professionals, with robust postgraduate training and who

The number of doctors leaving the NHS prematurely is staggering. @Wesstreeting talks about improving productivity. Wouldn't it be productive to focus on retaining these 20,000 doctors who leave every year? Restoring pay would be a powerful first step in fixing productivity.

Dr Sandeep Bansal R0B0T0VERL0RD Dave Kinloch I help ANPs who are doing their MSc. There is no comparison with medical school, and the good ones are fully aware of that and we work well together.

NHS - WHAT? Children are being refused NHS treatment for serious conditions because they attend private schools? This is sickening, it surely can’t be legal? Tax payers fund the NHS & it is free for ALL at the point of need. At lest that’s what it was.

PAs are not medically trained. This delusion needs to stop. Refuse to supervise 🫸 Refuse to prescribe 🫸 Refuse to engage 🫸

Dear Wes Streeting If you do not have the time could you not ask somebody to explain why you pay more to PAs than to doctors. Has the day of politeness also gone? Sad!

Hey look guys, a letter in a national newspaper that no residents read, from a bunch of gong-chasing duffers out of touch with both residents and reality, telling you to vote against your own interests. Vote yes 🦀🦀🦀 theguardian.com/society/2025/j…

GMCharlatan 🦀 (@gmcharlatan) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Anyone on the fence about voting to strike should read this These government stooges are demanding you vote no while sitting on their 2008 pensions and million pound houses Gerada’s “vital, differently trained” PAs are still paid £10k more than doctors theguardian.com/society/2025/j…

I find this letter from so-called ‘senior figures’ utterly shameful. These individuals haven’t lived through the 22% real-terms pay cut that today’s resident doctors have. They trained in an era of free tuition and affordable housing - yet now choose to pull the ladder up behind

If I were Clare Gerada, I would look at the BMA dossier of patient harm and have some shame over what I have enabled Instead she joins fellow privileged boomers to step on Resident Doctors and pretend to care about patient safety Vote YES Resident Doctors theguardian.com/society/2025/j…

Dear Resident Doctors, Clare Gerada ruined general practice by enabling PAs as direct GP replacements. She’s wrecked our careers, don’t let her wreck yours too. Whatever she says, make sure you do the opposite. Yours, A humble GP.

Clare Gerada et al didn’t pay tuition fees to attend medical school, didn’t have >£50k student debt, nor ever faced the prospect of unemployment. Context is everything.

ClinOncDoc (@clinoncdoc) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The authors telling residents not to strike had: No tuition fees No student debt 1-2 yrs free accommodation Final salary pension National excellence awards Guaranteed employment An affordable family home What did they leave for the next generation? theguardian.com/society/2025/j…
