Systems Trivia has been my fav conference activity. It's always super fun and educational. In this ACM SIGOPS Blog, we invited Roberta De Viti and Vaastav Anand, the heroes behind the scenes, to share the backstories and production experience. I wish every conference has its Trivia.

How to make AI data work more fair to people and a more effective path out of poverty? The nonprofit, Karya (a spinout from Microsoft Research) in India, is gaining early but real traction with its creative, socially-aware, approach. Great coverage by TIME time.com/6297403/india-…

I'm recruiting PhD students (again) this year! If you're interested in hardware security, formal synthesis, or the intersection of formal methods and computer architecture in general, please apply to Computer Science and Engineering at Michigan's PhD program and mention me in your app! RTs greatly appreciated🙏.

Super grateful to my students for their wonderful work! I also thank the small village of people who helped me with this --- all the way from encouraging me to apply to providing detailed feedback on my drafts. ♥️♥️

Kudos to Irene for speaking up. I hope the survivors get the support they need. If you are a PhD student in computing who has witnessed or experienced sexual harassment at UW (or anywhere else), let me know & I'll support you. I also know others who will - you aren't alone.

SoCC'24 promises to be great. It will be held at the Microsoft campus in Redmond, *Nov 20-22*, and has an amazing program with 63 papers (most ever!), single track over 3 days. Did I mention it is also the cheapest ever? $150 registration for students! Hope to see you there!
