Firefighters and support staff from Australia are here to aid our wildfire response. We appreciate all the international and Canadian firefighters who travel from thousands of miles away to help keep our communities safe.

While recent rainfall has helped firefighting efforts, there is still a fire ban in the Forest Protection Area. Please help our firefighters by continuing to respect fire bans in your area. To find out if a ban is in place in your area, visit albertafirebans.ca

If you’re returning home after being evacuated, remember to stay away from burned areas. These areas often have unstable trees and pits of hot ash that are extremely dangerous. Please give our firefighters the space they need to continue working.

Happy Indigenous Peoples Day from Alberta Wildfire. Today we celebrate the invaluable contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. The traditional knowledge and practices they share with us play a key role in wildfire management in our province.

Lookout tower cameras in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area captured these snowy views yesterday. Rain at lower elevations lowered the fire danger in much of Alberta. Conditions remain dry in the High Level and Fort McMurray forest areas, where a fire ban remains in effect.

Before you go camping, check albertafirebans.ca or download the Alberta Fire Bans app to find the fire ban status at your destination. If you are able to have a campfire, keep it small, safe and always attended. Soak it, stir it and soak it again to ensure it is out.
