Have you ever wondered how the aluminum tubes that make up the Alde heating system are made? Perhaps not! But we are going to show you anyway! A big thanks to the people at Hydro for being a great supplier.#aluminium #caravan #motorhome #campervan

It begins in the cast house. A mixture of scrap aluminium and high purity aluminium is melted, and then alloyed to customer specifications using concentrated alloying elements with no compromise in quality. #caravan #motorhome #campervan

The liquid metal is cast into billets (logs) using the Direct Chill casting process. The billets are then homogenised to ensure a uniform microstructure, providing the extrusion presses with a reliable, consistent and high-quality product.

The logs are then cut to manageable sizes to feed into the line. The first step is to heat the billet to the required temperature for it to be pushed through the die.

The billet is then pressed through the die to create the desired profile. For Alde this would be 16mm tube that transports the heat around a vehicles central heating system. #Caravan #motorhome #campervan #alde

The extruded aluminium tube is then pulled (stretched) from both ends until it is straight. It is now ready to be cut to the desired length. #caravan #campervan

The tube is then heated in an oven. The alloy hardness will increase with time in the oven. Safely packed in returnable crates it is now ready for shipment. We hope you enjoyed the journey! #caravan #motorhome #campervan
