We are proud to announce an inaugural special issue "Models, Mechanisms, and Maturation in Developmental Dystonia" in the new Dystonia Medical Research Foundation journal Dystonia! We would like to extend an open invitation to contribute your research or review article: bit.ly/3lYFIbg

A Nature Communications paper by Dr. Roy Sillitoe, Sillitoe Lab Texas Children's & BCMHouston has discovered two #cerebellar neuronal lineages act distinctly to establish & maintain motor vs social behaviors. More: bit.ly/3Oal5Yc Meike E van der Heijden, PhD @AlejandroReyH1

Can the dystonia models be divided into groups based on the origin of the problem? In our new book chapter, Alejandro Rey Hipolito & Meike E van der Heijden, PhD talk about the Physiology of Dystonia by summarizing findings from Animal Studies. doi.org/10.1016/bs.irn…

I’m so honored to have had the opportunity to present our work to the dystonia community at the International Dystonia Symposium in Dublin. Big thanks to the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation for organizing this meeting, providing this opportunity, and funding the earliest phases of this work.

Grey Power – Detailed understanding of how #neurons of the #cerebellum contribute to motor and social behaviours. How can different motor disorders arise from cerebellar dysfunction? In this preprint, Meike E van der Heijden, PhD and Amanda Brown Sillitoe Lab explore how distinct electrophysiological signatures from cerbellar neurons can determine disease phenotypes including tremor, ataxia, and dystonia.

.Sillitoe Lab Texas Children's & BCMHouston has discovered #cerebellum, a hindbrain region, as a source of generalized #seizures - a novel finding w/wide-ranging implications for #epilepsy & other #neurological #disorders: bit.ly/3qdRzax Nature Portfolio Diary of a fat mouse

Congratulations to the Sillitoe Lab (first author, Dr. Jaclyn Beckinghausen Jaclyn Beckinghausen), in collaboration with the Ben Arenkiel Lab: their study reveals the cerebellum as a source of generalized convulsive seizures, published in Communications Biology Nature Portfolio!

Way to go Alejandro Rey Hipolito for a stellar talk and earning 2nd place at the 34th Annual Graduate Student Research Symposium! Rock on young man, rock on indeed!
