Making a winery very beautiful is both unnecessary and difficult, but Promontory have knocked it out of the park with this industrial-chapel aesthetic. Interesting too how they are using mainly large casks these days; the latest vintages (19, 20) show less density, more grace

Back in rainy London, clinging on to the memory of waking up to this view staying Silverado Vineyards in beautiful Stags Leap District. Swimming against the tide, Silverado never got overblown, overripe or overpriced. Refreshing, proportioned, accessible, classical Napa wines 😋

A very rare thing: a 10-wine 21-year vertical with 1) no discernible paradigm shift. The “scale” of the wine doesn’t change. 2) every wine absolutely singing! Consistently great but consistently itself - can only be San Leonardo
