Is it a sign I've worked long enough on my thesis for today when I refer to a song as "Review" rather than a "Remix"? I think yes

It doesn't happen often that submitting your paper is only the secondary event in a day. But today that's the case, because I've also officially submitted my PhD Thesis! To say it in the words of James Acaster: NO MORE JOBS* (*for today)

Pre-prints offer advantages such as scoop-protection and faster dissemination of knowledge but also have their drawbacks. Today's webinar with John Inglis, Jessica Polka and panel Q&A provided a great opportunity to learn more about them - thanks senthil arumugam for hosting!

ISTAustria is looking to fill 5 professor positions in any STEM field, at any level. Deadline is 29/10. From personal experience, I can say it's a pretty great place, so DO apply. If you have any questions, send me a DM. ist.ac.at/wp-content/upl…

Today we publish a paper in Science Magazine that expands nanopore readings to the proteome: a nanopore-based scanner to read off PROTEINS at the single-molecule level! 🤩 Awesome experiments by postdoc Henry Brinkerhoff of our #CDlab, with MD simulations of AksimentievLab 1/x

As some of you know, I like to use sketchnotes to visually record and summarize all kinds of things, mainly science talks. I tried my hand at visually capturing the benefits of preprints - and ended up winning a prize! Thanks ASAPbio, and thx senthil arumugam for suggesting it!

Hey twitter world! In anticipation of some good funding news (fingers crossed), I am going to be excitedly looking for trainees (GS and postdoc) interested in synthetic biology & cell/dev biology for projects using some cool gene circuits to record specific cellular states.

For my Austrian science peers: Bain&Company Bain & Company is visiting ISTAustria to tell you more about management consulting! After doing a STEM PhD, it's been a fantastic experience working at Bain and I can only recommend it. #altac #postPhd
