This is AI. People need to muzzle Generative AI *fast* or the truth itself is going to quickly become impossible to verify. If Congress can unite and make deepfakes illegal, surely they can make it law that GenAI needs at the very least a watermark on its output.

This is a great start. We need to keep pressure up to regulate realistic-looking GenAI - if Deepfakes can be considered illegal and defamation, it should be the same for making non-sexual deepfakes. Hard-to-remove watermarks. Easier ability to sue for defamation. It’s needed.

At the very least, I think media literacy classes need to become mandatory at schools - not just for AI, but for critical thinking in general - and AI detection software needs to be standardized, included on every social network where it’s shared to help level the playing field.
