One of the biggest taxes is one that is not even called a tax — inflation. When the government spends money that it creates, it is transferring part of the value of your money to themselves.

Interesting point. I'd say the same for financial transactions with non-real capital. Speculation and investing with credit inflates currency, depreciates your savings, and lowers purchasing parity power without building real capital or utility value.
