Car insurance is due for renewal. Loyal customer, no claims, nothing changed, a years more experience. 40% increase. Makes sense.

Just had the EXACT same experience. Every year I phone and go ‘oooh let’s get that price down’, then after a bit of banter etc we settle on a happy price. Last week I got a quote for more than double last year’s cost, Me - “Oooh let’s get that price down….” Them - “we can’t.”

My Cooper S's insurance is due for renewal at the end of this month. I haven't driven it enough in the last year but that's not relevant... Nothing has changed. Absolutely nothing. And yet Direct Line have raised my premium by 44%. 44%! How can that be justified?
