January 14, 1979- Buddy Parrott uses pit strategy to allow Darrell Waltrip to make one less pit stop in the Winston Western 500 at Riverside. The strategy pays off when the race goes caution free. Waltrip made the race winning pass on Lap 106 on David Pearson, and won by 3.27 secs.
