It’s the first day for our DC Public Schools and all Ward 2 schools are in session! I look forward to an amazing school year and can’t wait to hear from teachers, administrators, students, and parents about how the first few days are. #Ward2 #LiteracyMatters

September is National #Literacy Month. In DC, only 26% of 4th grade students performed at or above the proficient level on the NAEP reading exam. Thank you Mayor Muriel Bowser Phil Mendelson Councilmember Brooke Pinto for partnering with the DC State Board of Ed to implement evidence-based reforms!

Great to be with neighbors yesterday Woman’s National Democratic Club calling swing states. I spoke with several voters who were supporting Kamala Harris, but had questions about how to vote. I directed them to the state's election websites & helped them navigate.

The D.C. State Board of Education is concerned the continuing resolution currently before the U.S. House would have "have serious ramifications for education in our city." Read the Board's full statement on H.R. 1968. ••• #ContinuingResolution #HR1968 #WashingtonDC
