Interested in probing cell-type and neurotransmitter specific signaling across many locations throughout large, deep brain volumes during behavior? Check out this new paper from our lab led by the intrepid Mai-Anh Vu: sciencedirect.com/science/articlā¦

DSI is a form of synaptic plasticity mediated by endocannabinoids (eCBs). With Linlin Fan, we demonstrated in vivo that place cell activity triggers eCB signals affecting GABAergic inputs; and that cannabinoid receptors modulate place cell tuning. science.org/doi/10.1126/scā¦

Congratulations to lead author Michelle Cahill, Max Collard, @vincenttse, and team for this work on how astrocytes respond to glutamate and GABA, the two major neurotransmitters in the brain. š nature.com/articles/s4158ā¦

I hope people read this and fully understand what it says about the original paper and its support for the conclusions stated in the title. eLife - the journal: Comment on 'Accumbens cholinergic interneurons dynamically promote dopamine release and enable motivation' doi.org/10.7554/eLife.ā¦

I, and every scientistĀ I've talked to, believeĀ the end result of this devastating cut will be that UniversitiesĀ will simply pass on the buck to investigators. Many of us fervently agree that university administrations & bureaucracy should beĀ downsized and reformed. This maneuver

Just spent 30 hours reviewing for an NIH study section set for Thursānow postponed indefinitely. 20 other scientists did the same X multiple sections. Huge waste of time, resources, and funding, with real costs for science and economy. Donald J. Trump admin is bad for everyone.

I'm happy to share the final version of our paper in nature this week, with a lot of new data! š: nature.com/articles/s4158⦠This would have been impossible without support from the NIH (especially BRAIN Initiative), as well as HHMI, Simons Foundation, Princeton Neuroscience Institute, HHWF, BRF.

Congrats Chris Zimmerman!!!

Fun project to collaborate on! Well done Don B. Arnold lab!!!

Our perspective with Bernardo Sabatini on the function of striatal indirect pathway is out! We discuss many ideas including dopamine dependent learning rule, action switching etc. We hope this can inspire new experiments moving forward! nature.com/articles/s4158ā¦
